Hugh co-founded White Spider Media in 2005, following a career spanning 25 years first in media sales before crossing over to the agency world.
After five years in display ad sales at The Daily Mail, Hugh crossed Fleet Street to join The Daily Telegraph in 1985 where he was part of the team that turned the advertising department into one of the best and most dynamic in London, rising to the position of client sales director. He then moved to The Financial Times magazines division, initially on Investors Chronicle and then as group sales director of the intermediary division. In this role, Hugh was responsible for Financial Adviser and Money Management as well as the launch of Investment Adviser.
In 1996, Hugh crossed the sales/buy divide to join Ptarmigan Media working on a number of high profile investment services accounts, ultimately serving as the agency’s client services director. He then moved to Capital City Media at the same time as Iain Prickett, before the two friends decided to go it alone in 2005 with the formation of White Spider Media.
Hugh specialises in relationships – a life time spent working within the media has enabled him to draw in a huge network of clients and media contacts across the spectrum. Using his experience and contacts Hugh works with clients to guide, plan and implement strategy. He is always a reassuring presence in any meeting.
He is a talented golfer (in his own mind) and lover of rugby, football and cricket. He lives in Surrey and in the French Alps (for 2 weeks a year anyway)
